...is Sunday, May 6th, which is also my mom's 75th birthday. My mother, Whitney, loves the outdoors and I owe to her my sense of wonder for wild life.

Sunday is also May Day in Mpls, when The Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre leads a parade down Bloomington Ave. in the heart of the metro.

It is a gathering of people who reject consumerism as a way of life, and embrace a sense of peace and caring.

what could be more mellow
than molo
under a may moon

my fondest remembrance of 'May Day' celebrations was my 2 years at St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa when everyone pledged to drink a case of their favorite beer in that day. needless to say, that always got ugly, but it still brings a smile to my face when i think of it. Old Style... May Day... glad that's over with
anyway, love your moons-be cool

I heard it's also the largest appearing moon of 2012 (closest to earth).

Edited-- thanks.

Spotted O-- the dancing leaf-- owned by friend/ former colleague in Duluth-- in his Kitchen. I bartered it for the use of his canoe and cabin on the St. Croix. A good trade.

Anti-consumerism is unamerican! To protest this parade, I'm going to go rent THREE storage lockers and fill them with plastic from China while I sing, God Bless America.

I think a scary percentage of Americans could end up on an episode of Hoarders given the ubiquity of those storage lockers. When I buy something and bring it home, something has to go to make room for it.

Beautiful moon indeed. The 'Moon of Flowers' and 'Planting Moon'.
Planted and transplanted some more garden today. Hope the moon is kind.

We are socked in with clouds tonight so we cannot see the moon and I suspect we will not see it later either.

However, I had some fun playing around last evening sitting on the deck at our lake cottage photographing the "almost-full" moon, and I will just have to be satisfied with these for the May moon, I think. This is just a sampling.

Overcast and waiting for rain. No moon and no lunatics roaming the North Woods...until fishing opener next weekend.

Not so sure about that. I'm seeing plenty lunatics this weekend.
