When you're in the BWCA at camp and ready to either retire for a night at the fire or make dinner what kind of special treat do you like to have. I like the Monster Mix trail mix from Target. That or a sip (or six) of Jameson before retiring for the evening.
Watch out for that rock!!!........ Oooo.... That's going to leave a mark...
I tuck a small Hershey's Symphony bar (the one with the toffee chips and almonds) in the very bottom of the Rubbermaid food box before the trip. This is the box that we carry in the tent pack, and contains the staple items like pancake mixes, dry pasta, syrup, Bisquick, baking mixes, etc. and my Jello-mold oven and some cooking supplies. It also contains a little survival food, and the instant coffee and tea bags.
The bar sits at very bottom of the pack where I don't see it and can't be tempted, but I know it is there. If there is a particularly difficult day, one with muddy portages, one that rains all day and is cold and gloomy, or one that I don't think was a good day, it is my comfort treat. And if I don't pull it out at all, that means that the trip was very, very good, and I'll eat it at the end of the trip for a celebration! I usually share it with Spartan1 (or offer to), but not always. :-)
I never eat a Symphony bar at any other time, so it is saved for special.
An Irish Kiss: 1 part Bailey's, 1 part Jameson whiskey. Tastes sweet and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. I bring it ready mixed in a large plastic bottle.
Like to bring Ginger People ginger chews for a sweet treat once in while too or the RedVines black licorice.

Those Ginger People ginger chews are the best! I have to hide them from the kids or the whole box is gone on the first day of the trip! We eat them while paddling and save our chocolate for around the fire.
A tin cup of hot cocoa topped off with a snort of Tia Maria. A hand full of GORP to be shared with a red squirrel, mouse or camp jay. I'm already there.
quote sterngirl: "Salted nut rolls. Saved for a day with lots of portaging. Only I know they are packed. I pull them out after a day of portaging and everyone is happy.
Also like packitgourmet's sticky toffee pudding cakes. Easy to do in a pan of boiling water with silicone baking cups. Yum!
"
Where do you get both of these, assuming they're a mix?
The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. Thank God for the United States Marine Corps!

Never heard of Ginger People ginger chews, but I love crystallized ginger. Same thing...?

They're a chewy ginger candy with a tacky consistency similar to a caramel chew. They're not as strong as crystallized ginger but they've still got a very strong ginger taste. I used to chew on crystallized ginger a lot as well(helped me quit smoking). These have a more pleasant texture IMO and the wife likes them too(crystallized is too strong for her). They have a few different flavors too. I got a 5lb variety pack this year for our trip to the Caribbean since they work wonders for motion sickness.

The mix is from packitgourmet.com. The silicone baking cups are these Super easy to make. Add water to mix, pour in the cups, and boil for about 15 minutes.
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

Kenny's Candy Co. Strawberry Twists (far superior to any licorice, especially if straight from the factory). A close second are s'mores made with Keebler fudge-covered grahams. or maybe with peanut butter Oreos.

I got the variety pack on Amazon but you can usually find them in organic or health food stores.
Every night after dinner we have red wine and some type of chocolate. It's become our ritual to sit by the fire and sip the wine while watching the stars and listening to the loons.

Kanoes can have all of my watermelon Jolly Ranchers, I'll keep the rest. My wife kept calling Jolly Ranchers, Joly Rogers, we all call them Jolly Rogers now. Our special treat is cinnamon sugar rolls made by twisting biscuit dough on a stick, covering with cinnamon sugar and baking "marshmallow style" over a campfire.
This summer my future son-in-law told us that the last time he went fishing his father fed him Teddy Grahams to keep him quiet. From here on, I will have Teddy Grahams for the lad on every trip. His dad passed away suddenly about a year and a half ago, I wish I had gotten to really know Bill.
Glad to see I am not the only one who enjoys a good cuban cigar with his whiskey after dinner in the woods. Single malt is prefered over the Jack though.
I wish I were, I wish I might, I wish I was in the BWCA tonite!

That is sort of amusing to me. . .Spartan1 is always calling them Jolly Rogers, too. :-)
And those biscuit things sound yummy. Will have to try that!

Raspberry Crumble (MH) is the thing we all fight over. Can never take enough. I don't do the chocolate on top, so basically it's just real dried raspberries and cornstarch or something into a really fresh tasting warm raspberry sauce. Mmmmmmmmm.
A close second is Cache Bay vanilla pudding with whatever dried fruit I have on hand (strawberries or raspberries or blackberries typically).
