Hey I am an avid and experienced northern fisherman but would like to get into some walleyes and other species.

Taking a trip this May from Kawishiwi lake through Polly and making my way all the way up through Adams and Boulder. Planning on stopping and fishing the Kawishiwi river and that area for a day or two. Any tips would be helpful. I would love to hear stories of fishing in the area and bait that has worked well.

I took the same trip last year.

Leaches! Thats what all but the biggest walleye came on.

The largest fish of the week came on a trolled deep diving shad rap, purple in color.

I actually caught that fish passing through polly. We also caught tons of small mouth on chug bugs, hula poppers and other assorted top waters.

Tossing them off the rocks of the Kawishiwi river the bites were fun to watch. Bugs were horrible further north we went. Would have liked to fish the Kawishiwi more at nite but my gf was getting bit up pretty bad so we rushed back to our camp.
