Fishing trip in June into Caribou and Pine area with my daughter Allie. She's never seen Johnson Falls and has bugged me to do so for the past few years. A couple weeks in July in Q via Atikokan with a teaching buddy, no specific route yet, not sure if we'll have one as this is my buddies trip and he likes to wing it. Hoping for an August trip to WWCP with my wife. This last one depends on the summer hockey and soccer schedules of our daughters.

In Moose River North and out LIS in mid August. Also wetting my son's toes at Voyageurs in June as a bit of an initiation/preparation for his first BW trip in 2013.
"Once more unto the breach dear friends, once more."
Mid-May- day tripping for a few days with my nephew. Staying at Bearhead Island State Park, hope to hit Lake One to see the fire damage, South Hegman to see the pictos, fishing wherever/allover, Ely for a burger.
Early September- week-long trip starting on the South Kawishiwi with my buddy Jeff.
Sometime this summer- tentative trip with my wife and daughters and their boyfriends, location TBA possibly outside of BWCA. (reread- not my wife's boyfriends)

#1 Taking my dad and brother up in May. Dad is 76 so we are going to take it easy. Entering Lake One and heading toward the river. Couple of easy portages, he loves it:)
#2 Entering Lake One with one of my annual travel partner. Trying to go through burn area and find a temporary home on Insula.
#3 Still undecided on route. Last year we went in on Snowbank and came out on Poplar. Loved the Gunflint side. May spend some time there. My partner for this trip doesn't get vacation finalized until 60 days out, so when we plan trips we have to pick what is open and make due. It is kind of fun because each year is an unknown adventure.
The wife and I are going in at Kawishiwi Lake and up to Adams the last week in May. we went this way before and passed through the area very quickly so we are going to slow down a little and see what we missed. tom
LIS North to Loon, around LLC to Tach, further around LLC to Pocket and back through Slim. Layovers as needed. Looking for Mid June fish. Bringing two 18 year old H.S. grads (one my son) and a rookie friend of mine from H.S.
Really looking forward to it. Going to try to take a lot of pics and do a trip report.
Headed into Q late August. Likely stay on Beaverhouse all week. Either taking my 16 yr old granddaughter or my 18 yr old nephew - whoever says "yes" first!
The 3 B's and I are going into Skipper west to Long Island then back east to Kiskadinna. Not sure if we will go Winchell to Gaskin or stay north of Winchell on the smaller lakes to Gaskin. (depends on the wind) From Gaskin we will go Horseshoe Caribou and out Lizz. If we have time we may head south into Vista and Misquah just to see them. Maybe just walk that north Misquah portage? If I recall that one's a bugger.
Well - I'm thinking 7 trips may not happen this year with my schedule. HOWEVER, June is planned, Yep - Me and my paddle sistah Trix are takin' our men fishin'.
July is lookin' good for another trip - TBD.
August is my family trip - Thinking somewhere on the Gunflint. My boyz haven't seen the blowdown or fire damage yet.

+1. Even the date is right. See you there, alpine. ;-)"
Nojo: We'll keep our eyes open and hope to see you - we're renting a canoe from Williams and Hall! We're on the water for a week - and when we get back, we may stay a night and take a day trip to the numbered lakes to see the extent of the Pagami fire in that area.

First trip in June to EP 16. Spend the week on Agnes and make day trips around the area. Hoping for site 1803. Another trip around Sept.

June...entry 14 LIS north to Shell, base camp August...entry 52 Brant Lake, circle thru Gillis, Mora, Tuscarora September...entry 47, Lizz. To Omega and Winchell and back
These last three trips are open to the public, thru the Minnetonka Rec. Dept. "Bang" of this board and I are guiding them.

Sounds a lot like my plan for heading east from Long Island, right down to the "maybe" part. I hope you get your trip report done before I leave in late Sept :).
Probably no BW this year. Hopefully a road trip out west to Glacier Nat. Park or south to Gulf Shores Alabama. Or maybe out to Wash. DC to visit the son.
But - I may try to sneak in a late Sept. trip to do some canoeing. We'll see what happens.
No plans yet....One son graduating High School, the other College. I'd like a good trip before they all go different ways. Seems like it was just yesterday.....

Somewhere on the Gunflint. Going through that perennial battle, "Do I see some new places or go someplace I know I love?" I'll have a couple "Newbie" BWCAW paddlers, but they are good friends from previous canoe trips. The fact that I want my buddies son to get into some fish and my medical issues is swaying me to go somewhere I know, but....... We plan on a Trout fishing trip in March that will give us time to go over old maps and figure it out then.

Leave my house may 19, enter bwca may 21, moose river north EP 16. no real plan after that just get in there and end up where we end up lol. exit may 25th then the sad long drive home the next day lol.
Starting out the year at Spring Wing Night in Rockford, MN.
Got a permit for Moose River North in mid May. Haven't been there for many years and thought I'd hit it before the crowds.
WCPP the first fourteen days of June
A July trip on Snowbank and beyond...
My son gets married in early August.
Then I start the trip of the year... Putting in august 20th on Gunflint and doing a loop to the east and back. Then picking up my second permit and going west doing several loops and meeting people for resupply along the way and coming out in time to enjoy the fall Wing Night down in Rockford MN.
I think the big trip this year will be to Quetico with by oldest son (15) on roughly the following route: Moose-Agnes-Kawnipi-Alice-McDougal-Poobah-Darky-Burt-Kahshapiwi-Burke-Moose
Plus a May laker trip in BWCA, a June laker trip in BWCA, and a family/neighbor family trip to LLC in August.

Similar thoughts here cowdoc - have my (ex's kid, so I guess "ex")stepson, my nephew, and my friend's kid - all 18 and graduating high school this year. Have been trying to get all of them on one trip for awhile, it never worked out, so a while back I planted the idea of a "post-graduation" trip with all three boys and their two dads. Theyall seemed enthused about the idea. Have a route planned out of Snowbank. Hopefully I don't have them backing out this time! Sort of a "last-gasp" attempt, as I know it'll be hard to organize something with this group again.
quote alpine525: "Nojo: Sorry to hear you changed your date - maybe we'll see each other some other time. I'll be looking forward to your trip report!"
Yeah, we had to change because my husband has had his vacation request in since about two weeks before the opening date of permit reservations and they are stalling on approving it. It is a technical "black out" date time frame for vacations, and while this shouldn't actually effect his position, nothing is happening...so we'll just move it to another time. We found out he has more vacation time that we'd thought, too, so if his August one does get approved, we can take the time to do something else. We'll probably go to our cabin instead. Cheap (or, rather...paid for already anyway).
My trip report will be with kids in tow...might be helpful to you and might not. Are you getting a tow up Moose?

The plan was to enter Sawbill through Alden and basecamp on Beth. Do day trips to Grace and small lake north of Beth, cant remember name. That was first week in Aug but one partner down and out, the other is "I don't know yet" Maybe another year without seeing the BW which will make 3 years in a row. May have to plan a short solo and leave them behind cause 3 years in a row is criminal.
We'll see what happens.
I wish I were, I wish I might, I wish I was in the BWCA tonite!
Family vacation the end of August... we just booked a week at a cabin at Kawishiwi Lodge. We'll be doing lots of day tripping. We were hoping to do a few days in the bwca followed by a couple days in a hotel but we don't think our youngest is going to be ready for that yet.
My annual long weekend at the edge of the bwca campground with my father in law will be replaced by a long weekend w/ my wife's family up there disposing of his ashes at some of his favorite places.
Hopefully 3 long weekend spur of the moment(planned 2-4 weeks ahead of time) type trips.... so the EP's are obviously up in the air. Some hopefuls are Baker area, Sawbill to Beth, Sawbill to the fire lakes, Kawishiwi to Kawachong, Crocodile, Wood, Slim,
1 in summer with just my wife and I 1 in summer with either just oldest daughter(7)and I or wife, daughter, and I 1 in Oct. w/ a buddy
Entry date of June 11th. If you are back home in time...I would love to hear of some trip highlights, campsites to consider and just general tips or advice for the loop.

Yep, it gets complicated with other people. After my first trip I couldn't wait to get back, but just couldn't get details worked out with others so finally when solo after three years of that. I've been doing it ever since. Like basspro69, I just tell people this is when and where I'm going and what I'm doing, you're welcome to join me. Sometimes my brother makes it, most times I'm solo.

Told my I don't know yet buddy what I am thinking as far as a solo and asked if I could borrow a vehicle from him. He was not happy that I would go without him but he went when I could not go 3 years ago. Said I could borrow a car but now has renewed intrest in making it happen. Also said I would have to take his younglings but I don't think his wife will go for that.
Thinking about something on Gunflint if I solo in Aug, Never been on that side - Idea's?

#51 for opener, probably Tuscarora. A week later #16 to the boulder river and down the Dahlgren to Stuart. I'm thinking a yet to be determined solo in July or August. Then a wife trip in September. Maybe a loop out of Clearwater. Getting excited!

That's the right time frame. We'll be in the Black Pearl. :)
Trip 1 in mid May - Louse River/Lady Chain Loop from Sawbill.
Trip 2 sometime late summer - Cherokee Loop from Sawbill. (This will be our third time doing this. We're bringing a first timer)
My bro and I started in 2010 at Sawbill and have been going back there every trip since. We did the Frost River Loop from Sawbill last year and after our trip in May we'll have explored the whole area =o
Oh, I'll prob head up solo again for a few days in March.
Sound's like a lot of great adventures just over the horizon. Going into Mudro the last full week of May (after the southern wingnight) on my first solo. Hoping to loop the lakes NW of Fourtown, back through into Horse, south and east into Jackfish and then Pipestone and then south coming out Fall. I want to see as much as He will allow in six days. Second trip the end of August with the guys, LIS north. Planning for six guys. First trip with my brother (and his first trip in 40 years). That oughta be interesting!

June 9th - Quetico - Beaverhouse Lake entry - Quetico Lake July 22nd - Quetico - Prairie Portage entry - destination Brent Lake August 20th - BWCAW - Snowbank entry - heading toward Ima
First summer with three trips. I'm jacked.
It's only a spot on the map... until you go there.

Haven't decided on actual BWCA dates as school work dictates when I can take off and I won't know until a week or so before, but trip hopefuls include:
#14 Little Indian Sioux River or #16 Moose/Portage River
#38 Sawbill Lake?
#47 Lizz and Swamp Lakes
#54 Seagull Lake? or #54A Seagull Lake Only (with my sister and her kids)
