For those of you who might be interested or doing what I am camping in the BWCA and Day Tripping into the Quetico. To legally do this you must acquire a RABC and a Day Trip Permit for the day you are entering. RABC can be acquired on line at Canadian Immigration or other links ($30.00 Canadian). A Day Trip Permit can be acquired at a Quetico Ranger Station, (Lac La Croix or Prairie Portage) for $12.00 Canadian. Other options include having a friend, or outiftter pick one or more up for you... they just have to have the day you are using them stamped on it. Or you can go to www.ontarioparks.com and purchase a Summer Vehicle Pass for $70.00 Canadian that is good for the entire summer. Any Questions ask me and I will answer them to the best of my knowledge... Bruce

If I read you correctly, in lieu of a day pass, one can purchase a season pass and then access Quetico for day fishing whenever wanted?

Yes that is true unless you wish to purchase multiple day passes... after 4-5 day passes the yearly sounds pretty good... Also easier to acquire since you can go online and get it... without having to go to a ranger station... worth it to me...even for 2-3 days into Q if you are camped nearby and want to fish some different water or look around...

JJU, but you still need an Ontario fishing license if you fish in the Quetico.

Just searched and came up with this thread.

I am planning to enter at LIS in July, and head to LLC. So do I need to get a RABC to stay at campsites or go to Warrior Hill, etc on the Canadian side of the lake? What is the website to order it? I'll be in a group of five. Do I need each person to apply for their own, or just one per group?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Technically, you need a permit to visit Warrior Hill or even set foot on Canadian soil for that matter. However I don't think anybody does. We never have and I've probably went up Warrior at least a half dozen times. I have never heard of anybody getting busted doing so either. As far as campsites go, you need a permit for that, but if you're on LLC I don't know why you would need to camp on Canadian soil. Just camp in the good old USA.

Do you plan on exiting through the Moose River? My guess is yes since it's a long hike back to LIS from Warrior Hill.

Because I'm wearing one and I just did....

Has anyone heard if they are requiring passport IDs for RABC's this coming year? I've heard that Canada is requiring passports for normal border crossings.

While there is no reciprocal aggreement I know of... most people who either portage through Canadian soil, or visit a site, such as Rebekah Falls, or Warrior Hill, or the pictographs are not required to have a RABC, However I will say it is advisable not to linger too long north of the border... Also, be sure not to have American Leeches (unless you are portaging) or be fishing north of the border without a Canadian license. They will write you a ticket if you do!

Yes, just Goggle Canadian fishing license or go to the Quetico DNR or call them. I think if you do a search here for Canadian fishing license on this site it will give you a number to call.

You have made my day with this thread. I have had a few physical setbacks and as a result I backed off a Quetico trip in favor of a familiar area EP16. I had wanted to see Argo and the pictos on Darky and fish the Rolands and that general area. Now a base camp on Crooked and I am good to go.
Thanks to all who contribute to this messageboard.

PS: mending well and expect to honestly be 100% by June but you gotta get your permit early so I couldn't take a chance.

Hey Bruce,

Do you know if a single Summer Vehicle Pass will cover myself and my family on day trips into the Quetico? Or would we each need to get separate passes?

Thanks,
Ryan

Holy Old Post! Note this information was from 5 year old posts. Things have changed and I don't think Quetico offers a "day pass" but I may be wrong.

Yeah, I thought it would be worth a try. Just trying to figure out how to do day passes in the Q without having to stop at a ranger station...
