So...I went to the garage sale at NW Outlet today, and snagged a whole bunch(10) of Mackenzie maps of Quetico for a quarter each. Darn- looks like a sign I ought to go to Quetico next year! They are mostly for the area N and W of Northern Lights. Any thoughts on good routes? I haven't been to Quetico since the 70's. I love rivers, don't care as much for big lakes, and am looking for solitude and scenery more than fishing.
Of course, I'm at work right now, and didn't bring the bag of maps (what was I thinking?) so can't tell you the map #s, but I think it was mainly from 38-46 and a couple others.

Dogwoodgirl-

By the looks of when you posted this we really need to help you out. Looks like you have not been able to sleep and have pouring over maps. :-)

All I can say is any trip I would take would include the Darky/Argo area and the head over into Ted/Earl etc. through Hurn. Great route, beautiful scenery, gin clear waters, pictographs, message caches etc.

I loved that area and encourage others to check it out.

I agree with Bogwalker. The Argo/Darky areas are fantastic.

Unfortunatly I missed the Q this year. I have a 3 or 4 week trip in the works for next year. Planning on crossing the park 4 or 5 times. I'm getting an early start trying to convine Mrs. qp is going to be the real challenge.

Bog's I was back on Argo in 06 and the water was just a blue/green as it was when we were there.

Ok back to planning.
By the way, anyone done the Memory Lane Portages this year? How about Allan Creek?

Take your journey and never look back. Life is too short, not to enjoy the necessities of the north woods.

Bogs...HA HA....I work nights, you silly goose. But, you're right in one sense, it is a sickness. Not back 2 weeks, and I'm already heavy into planning mode for next year!
