Heading that way in late August from Missing Link. Wondering if anyone has gone from Little Saganaga to Elton recently. I'm curious about the merits of the long single portage vs. the northern, two-portage route (which looks to be more fun).

It's been a few years. But, I took the 2 shorter portages.


I don't recall them being much of a problem. But, I think at certain lower water levels, you might have to get a little muddy.


Here's the trip report of that experience. Tuscarora solo

Sorry, no advice on the longer single portage.

Thanks, I saw your photos on the overview map and that's what piqued my interest in going that way instead of just getting it done in one carry.
