Thinking of planning a boat trip into the bwca this fall. I have only taken canoe trips in the past. Does anyone have any recomendations of lakes or campsites.

Like everyone else has said, Moose to prairie portage around Ely.
I am heading in for a boat trip at the end of this week and this is how I'm gonna do it. It's got advantages and disadvantages obviously. You can get places more quickly, but are obviously limited on the territory available.
Not sure how feasible it might be to tow in your own canoe with the motor boat, but may offer more for day trips, etc.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm looking to take the boat and find a bigger campsite and base camp for 3-4 days and fish. Is there any lakes not in the bwca that have campsites on them. Not a campground
There are permit stations at the boat ramps for VNP. No cost that I am aware of. It is a heavily used and heavily patrolled area so make sure you bring a permit. There are two public landings in Crane Lake, and others around Kabetogama.

Thank you I definitly would like better fishing and less people. Is there a map for designated campsites that I could buy or look at online?
