It’s 87F in the Twin Cities, but the dew point is in the low 50s. Much better than yesterday afternoon. The haze from the Colorado wild fires has even cleared out.
Temps remind me of a trip into the BWCA many years ago with my family and a guide. I experienced some heat related issues and the guide (well intentioned) made me sit in the cold water and drink electrolytic drinks for way too long. Fingers were numb and needed a tree badly.

" NICE TO HERE FROM YA 13 HAVEN'T HEARD FROM YA SINCE ROCKWOODS.
I’m glad Andy suggested the mini wing night. I’ll be back in the north woods very soon. It looks like I can get another free geology lesson on NE Minnesota by a professor from UMD. This time I’m taking notes. Stay cool blutofish!
97 on the 28th with 101F on the 29th for Des Moines,,, both with heat index values at 111F. Dewpoints on the 28th reached as high as 77F, (Envirotranspiration)--- ie CROPS. Both Red Oak and Shenendoah,IA recorded heat index values of 122 on the 27th... 102F with dewpoint in the upper 70's. Very unusualy for June.
But--- the 101F in DSM missed the record for the date by 1F which still stands at 102F set in the dust bowl of 1934. Also-- Des Moines kept it's unreal steak of no max records at 2066 consecutive days in the summer months of June, July and August--- last being 104F on Aug 17th, 1988. Nearly a quarter of a century. I do think that if substanial rain doesn't fall,, a few records may be in trouble as signs are pointing to a widespread drought. Btw-- it's my job,, so don't hassel me too much!!! Enjoy the weather-- it's the only weather you got.

We're headed for mid to high 90's again today. Got my bike ride in between 7 and 10 to beat the heat. What bothers me more than the heat right now is that in my lifetime I've never seen the yellow/brown, absolutely burned up lawns, and curled yellow/brown corn that I'm seeing in JUNE! I heard this morning that we're almost 4 inches below normal for rainfall this month with no real relief in sight. It is tinder dry all over.
Not complaining really, especially when I see the Duluth/Superior and Colorado problems out there. However I'm starting to feel the angst over what's next for my area.
May waters rise to meet you.
May wind and current be always at your back.
May the Good Lord paddle with you,
And may yours be the lightest pack.
That's why I like winter, too hot for me. This weather is getting more erratic every year. Super hot and dry, one place. Super wet other places. If it rains,it comes down in buckets. Nothing in between. People can say what they want but the climate is changing.

I heard 104 yesterday here in No. Va. Worked oot in it until 2-3 o'clock. Enough! Last night at 9-9:30 PM, accuweather said 90 with a 'real feel' of 104. Supposed to be 100 today.

Don't break a hip :). We're not as young as we once were.

This was not even mentioned by my local wx cronies. And they are straight up non human induced climate change people that know more collectively about climate then any one person. But not one knew all these records lows were broken/tied. IF it was the other way around like it is this week--- I digress.

Since June 24, more than 1,900 heat records were broken in the United States.
In Atlanta, it was a record 106 degrees on Saturday. On Sunday, it was 105.
It was so hot (107 degrees) in Nashville, a woman baked cookies on the dashboard of her car.

even all the heat and records broken,, most of the East Coast avg below normal or slightly below normal.
June actually ended up cooler than the normal in BOS (-1.25F) and even NYC (Central Park -0.4F) and southeast despite the heat blast end of the month (-2.0F in Jacksonville). Dulles despite the late month heat wave was -0.6F while DCA nearer the White House and Congress was (+1.1F) and Atlanta despite the all time record was just +0.1F. It the west, predictably with the cold PDO eastern Pacific, it was another cool start to summer. Seattle ended up -2.6F, Portland -2.4F, Spokane -2.5F.

What a huge difference in temps, 37 deg! I know where I want to be.
Maybe not a record, but the first time since 88 that we've hit 100 twice in one summer. Supposedly it will be 66 by 6 am tomorrow with a high of 83. Hope it's true; I need to finish refinishing my canoe!

I thought I heard that this is the 9th or 10th day in a row over 100 degrees in St. Louis Missouri ? Is that right? I tell you from a Minnesota person,I would of been fried up long ago. How do you do survive in that heat?

I know if we had heat like that for long we could say goodbye to lake trout fishing and hello to bullheads and Amazon catfish.

I hope that is coming our way. It's still 100 here. But we could take the heat if we could have some RAIN! At our little lake cottage, 75 miles from here, we had .05 (that's five one-hundredths of an inch) of an inch of rain on June 2nd, and nothing since. Deadly dry. No rain predicted for the rest of July either.
It was like this in the summer of 1988. I don't remember that summer fondly. We even lost some trees.
147 in one of our empty greenhouses. It is empty, so I have no cooling fans running. I do have the sides rolled up and the ends open. I am in central Illinois.
It might of been 1988 in Minnesota, I remember the aspen and oak leaves drying up and falling off.
