We are heading into the Poplar - Rush - Banadad lakes in mid-July.

Any tips or advice on the area?
1) What fish are in those lakes?
2) Any good lures to use?
3) Notable camp sites

Thank you very much.

Went there with my wife the end of Aug. a couple of years ago. We loved the area because there were not many people around (only saw 1 other group each day) and we like the skinny lakes.

We basecamped on the island campsite on Banadad on the far western end and thought it was the nicest site along that route. We had our tent down by the water because we like the sound of the water at night, but there are 2 big, nice tent pads on top of the hill by the fire grate area. The next nicest site IMO was the one on the northern shore of Rush on the eastern end.

We had good luck catching smallies w/ slip bobber and leeches and northern w/ rapalas on Banadad. We didn't fish the other lakes but Rush has a good rep. for smallies and northern. Skipper is the only lake w/ walleye.

Portage info..... The portage from Skipper to Little Rush is actually a shallow stream you wade through. There are 2 portages about 30 feet apart that go from Little Rush to Rush. Take the northern most (right) trail. It was added by the FS 2 years ago because the other (southern, left) one is usually flooded by a beaver pond.

If you want to see some pics of the area click on the picture icon under my name and go to the Skipper album.

This is what I love about this site. Seek, and ye shall find.

We almost didn't continue on to Iron/ Petersen Bay/ Curtain Falls, because fishing was darn good!

I caught all 5 walleye (roughly in the 19-21" range) all within about 1/2 hour before supper. I caught them in the bay to the east in about 6' of water, yep, that's right. 6' of water. Granted it was early June. Greatest lake yet for fishing for me personally in the BW!
