I am sick of shopping! I probably have the ingredients on hand for a homemade fish batter. Do you have a recipe to share?

Thanks!!!

1 cup white cornmeal
1/2 cup yellow cornmeal
2/3 cup white flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 eggs
3/4 - 1 cup milk.....make a runny batter like crepes.

We have played around and added beer, OR buttermilk, oregano,OR dillweed, cilantro etc, but this is the basic.

try fish on the half shell. fillet your fish of choice but leave the skin on. place on the fire grate (skin down) over a low flame fire. add butter and other seasonings. pick away and eat when its done. its pretty damn good. burn the skin when youre done eating.

I just use either bannock or pancake mix.

at home, the kids love pan-fried fish rolled in finely crushed old dutch dill pickle potato chips...

i don't know why it just works.

That sounds really good, actually, and easy on a BW trip...that bag of chips would be nice and smashed before the fish were caught. :)

Would foil tented over the fish on the grill help the top of it cook, or is that overkill?

In my opinion just about any fish batter is good -- but my favorite has got to be the italian seasoned panko bread crumbs! Thats it! nice crunchy texture and awesome flavor!
