Usually we dont like to do a whole chain, just go in half way and come back out the same way because it gives us more time to fish. But I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for best fishing trip lakes.

Been to Gunflint -Clearwater and stayed on little caribou - and seemed like the only fish there were Lakers that were jumping like crazy but nothing would bite.

2 trips out of sawbill:

Baker to smoke: Fished pretty well there.

Lady chain (stoped on Grace and Pheboe) cause it was awesome and everyone said the fishing was amazing up there. But we didnt have that much success.

If it's fish you're after, head to Knife, LLC, Iron, or Crooked.

I might be able to help but I would need to know time of year and what your planning to target.

Iron lake, Iron lake and then some more Iron lake in that order. Beware that Iron is no secret and offers some special challenges but the fishing can be out of this world.

Good question, we have used EP 16 and 19. The problem with Iron is that it has somewhat few campsites for a lake it's size. It has multiple ways to get to it but most ways take 2 days or 1 realllllly long one. It's very easy to get there and find no home. The easiest way is to spend the extra 200.00 and get jet boated across LLC and be there in 2 hours. Once there it is not grand central station but it does present a logistical challenge.

Crab Lake entry, then head up through Buck and Western to Cummings. Cummings is not a good Wallie lake, but those small ones on the way are pretty good.
