Hello. How are the water temps looking now? I will be heading in on Monday but driving up today. Also, how are the SM and Walleye moving? People have been guessing that they will be heading deeper soon but was wondering if anyone has seen/heard that is actually happening yet? Any thing else would be appreciated.
If you don't want to share info with everyone then you can always email me. + TGO, you always seem to have pulse on these things, love to hear from you. Would love to stop by your shop but we are heading out of Tofte this year.
As of two weeks ago they were still shallow, Walleyes in about 8-10 feet of water. At night they were caught in about 6 feet of water. I would think that the weather lately has sent them deeper.
The surface temps soared yesterday with the hot, humid weather, but bigger lakes aren't warming up as fast as one would think. Burntside surface temps were at 74 degrees surface yesterday on the locator, but 68 degrees on another thermometer convincing me that the heat from the sun on the transom passes heat to the transducer, giving a false reading. At 12-25 feet down, temps were at 62-63 degrees which is still cold for this time of year, and it dropped to 50 at 37 FOW. This was on Burntside Lake yesterday (large lake) and smaller lakes may be a bit warmer. Fish are just coming up on the reefs on the smaller lakes, and the bite has not been what one could call "hot." This will change over the next few days as the warm surface temps get mixed with the cooler temps down deeper through wave action.

So.... are you forecasting a hot bite (good/improved fishing conditions) for the next week? I arrive on the 8th, and am hoping to find some good fishing for my kids.
You got to be careful if you don't know where you're going, because you might not get there (Yogi Berra)
If the temps remain steady and the water temps keep rising, fishing can only get better. Guides have been doing very well on bass on certain lakes, and walleye fishing has started to pick up. With all said and done, yes, I'm predicting good fishing within a week.
