It is time to start the August 2010 Photo Contest.

First an important note. If you see that you have won the contest or a prize in the contest, please email your address and choice of hat, shirt, or bandanna to me.

The theme for this month's contest is "Campfires.

Monthly Category: Campfirest

Prize: BWCA Hat, Shirt or Bandanna.

Thanks to Cooke Custom Sewing (CSS) for sponsoring the year end prize.

Remember 1 entry per person please. This helps us vote accurately.

Rules:
- You must be signed in as a member with a valid email address in your profile to enter (or win).
- You can only enter one photo per monthly contest. You can enter the same photo if it did not win in a previous month.
- You must be the photographer of the photo and have the rights to post it.
- Photos are entered in the contest by making a reply posting to this message and using the "Add a photo to this message" link during composition. This will allow you to upload a photo from your computer to the contest or allow you to select a photo which you have already loaded into your photo gallery on this site. If you want to enter your photo in another way, please contact us.
- Please describe in the message the location of the photo.
- Judging will be done by the www.bwca.com staff and moderators.
- A member may win once per year.
- Photos must be posted to this thread by 11:59pm on August 31st.
- Photos must be in jpg (jpeg) format and uploaded to the site.

Contact me if you have something in a different format or are having problems uploading to the site.

I came back from fishing and two of my boys had done that. I thought about objecting, but the chair was kinda comfy and the view was great :) Besides that, I figured if they were tough enough to get it there....I didn't want to piss them off.

They were good. I'll be doing it again. We had 6 guys eating on about 40 of em. Not really anything to fill the belly, actually it was an after diner leisure activity. I had been meaning to try this for years and finally did it. We put fish parts in a fishing net and let it sit in the water for 15-20 min at a time and when you went back there were 5-10 in the net each time. cooked them up and ate them with the evening libations. I liked them, could of used some butter though.

I snapped this of two of my brothers on Jap Lake's NW camp #492 after playing with the shutter speed/aperture a bit. In the last moments of daylight Brevan is reflecting on the blown down/burned skyline in the background. Darien is making sure his headlamp is ready for the darkness. We were fortunate to have been able to have a fire due to restrictions.

August 9th, 2010 2nd Day First Solo Ever, SouthWest End of Mexican Hat Lake Woodland Caribou Provincial Park. Two shots same fire different times of night and opposite directions. Ahhh to be there again!

Don't mind at all. That was a particularly cold and rainy day. I'll never forget my friend, John, standing next to fire to dry out/warm up and the steam was rolling off his boots. It's a good memory for me.

I know it is a dark picture, but this is Clove Lake with my buddy Zac tending the flame. Whenever I am out camping with him, he is always the last up, stroking the fire. This image is what pops into my mind whenever I think of a campfire; someone leaning over it, getting it brighter, while the darkness hugs us all.
