My paddling group is arriving to the entry point area late the night before put-in. It's just the way it works out. We were wondering if we could sleep/pitch tents at the entry point. Yes, we're looking for something cheap or free. Just simply a place to sleep. Can we sleep at the the entry point? (Entry #25 Moose Lake)

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think you can pull out tents at the entry point, you'd need to find a designated campground in Ely or wherever. Looks like there's a couple campsites across Moose Lake from the EP but if you haven't been there before, I know from experience it is near impossible to find a campsite at night. The one right next to the portage might be easier to find though.

Is is legal to sleep in your car at the EP?

There are privately owned campgrounds at Moose Lake, I don't think you can just pitch a tent in the parking lot.

Somehow in chatting with ranger, he said that people do pitch tents at entry points - at least EP 14, and no one cared. I understood him to say that teh entry point parking area was not in his jurisdiction.
