Last year I took Evan with me on a 5 day trip. He carried his sleeping bag and some small toys in a rather small cheap backpack. The pack broke on day two or three and I would like to buy him a replacement. He is now 4 years old.

Anybody have suggestions? I would like him to carry his sleeping bag and sleeping pad(liter bottle size) this year and a little more next year.

I use a waterproof pack about the size of a school backpack. I am sure my youngest was 3 or 4 when she started carrying it. It fits clothing for a short trip and kid size stuffable sleeping bag and more, but I pack it according to kiddo wearing it.

To be honest, I'm selling my spare one now (never used), as my kids are getting old enough for larger packs (11/10/8). But I love the ones they used and I'd still recommend them highly. Now, they will become day packs as needed.

Interesting, I have never seen those before. Thanks for the suggestion! A waterproof pack sounds like a good idea.

We ordered 2 CCS rucksacks for our girls (5 and 3) in Jan. when they were 30% off. Pink of course :) We ordered w/ the short torso so it fits our 5 year now and still adjusts enough to fit my wife. If they hold up like others say CCS packs do, they should have these packs for a long time. Our 5 year old gets to use hers on her 1st over nighter in the Bdub in 2 weeks. CAN'T WAIT!

I looked at CCS first, but didn't see kids packs. I will look again, using a computer instead of my phone ;)

Soledad - they are not designed for kids, but are small packs an adult may use for a daypack. The key word is "rucksack" - on CCS web site that will get you to the pack ducks is talking about. Well made for sure.

Soledad, I see that you are across the river in Monti. I live in B.L. If you want to take a look at it and see how it fits your son we could meet somewhere.

Hey Ducks, sorry I missed your post last week. Thanks for the offer! I may even take you up on it, but let me see what I can find this weekend. My trip is coming up quick-next week I thought I had so much more time! I have been using this pack idea as leverage to encourage my son to stay in bed at night, now I think I am committed to getting him something.
