I'm curious about anyone's experience paddling in the state parks, and what you thought about it. Most places I know about have a lake or two you can get to, and that's about it.
I have thought about taking a boat to Lake Maria, as there are a couple different lakes to paddle there.
When I was younger, my Scout troop did a trip down the Crow Wing River to Crow Wing State Park. I don't recall much about it, other than the portage around a dam on the Crow Wing River.
right after i got my first canoe, me and the girlfriend did a hike in campsite to lake maria and portage the canoe to our campsite and then to one of the lakes (i don't think that one had a boat access). it was fun and lake maria is one of my favorite closer state parks.
There arnt a whole lot of state parks with canoe in campsites but they are they. i haven't done any of them yet. i have noticed that many of the state parks can get a little busy with motor boat traffic which i think is part of why i don't usually paddle them.
