"Near my business" That's funny. I'd rather fish from a canoe, I have never tried a float tube, but they look too confining to me.

I will only bring one boat with me, a canoe. Also with the water temps at 55 deg you would need waders to stay warn. Read the threads last week about the Monster pike eating a Walleye the someone caught, you will want to stay in the canoe,:)

"your business" might very well become an "Inny" for the entire trip if you have it dangling for fish bait in 55-65 degree water for to long. I would pass on the float boat due to the sudden boulders that appear out of nowhere just below the surface also.

I love float boats. They're great for small bodies of water you can't get anything else in, are easy to control, and give you a low profile. And they're a blast to catch a big fish in (though you have to be really careful if you're using a lure with treble hooks...). I always bring one with me on my regular family vacations, even though I have a fishing boat as well. However, I can't see bringing one on a bwca trip. They're too difficult to pack, inflating would be an issue, and you can really only cover a small stretch of water in them. And you'd probably want waders until summer hits, as others have noted, and waders are heavy. The canoe has always worked fine for me. If you all do bring them in, I'd like to here how it worked out for you. Have a good trip.

belly boats are a bad idea for bwca. Trust me I know from experience. you can only go maybe 1mph with out wind

I love my belly boat and have packed it into a lot of places. They are a great way to fish small or remote waters. But I've never even considered it for the BWCA; too much weight and bulk for too little advantage.

I like my belly boat too and use it back packing in the Rockys and small local ponds & lakes, I have never considered taking one to the BW. I can not see any advantage over a canoe. It is not worth the added weight.
