Disappointment is one of my favorite lakes. You don't have to go any further than that to find good fishing and great scenery. But, it is easily accessed and with just 9 campsites, as moose plums mentioned, it can be fill up quickly. If it is your destination, get an early start to avoid the wind on Snowbank, and grab a campsite asap. You won't be disappointed :-)

If you stay on Disappointment...get to a site as early in the day as possible...They fill up fast.

We were there last July for 4 days. Put in on Snowbank and went up to Jordan via Disappointment. Spent most of our time on Disappointment though because the fishing was so good. At dusk by the reeds on Disappointment we were catching smallmouth one after another. One member of our party caught a 42" northern on the southern end. We stayed on an island site on Disappointment. The western site on Ahsub affords some great views. A must see: the waterfall on the portage between Gibson and Cattyman.

There are many campsites on Disappointment lake and the fishing is decent. I went there in mid June 2007. We caught lots of SM bass and a few (but all big) walleyes. We did not catch many northerns but we only fished the northern half of the lake. It looked to me like the southern half had more weeds and would be better for pike. Disappointment is only 1 portage away (140 rods) so it is quick to get to but the campsites fill up quick. So get a campsite early if you plan to stay on Disappointment Lake.

Questions come up about how long is your trip, how far do you want to travel, what do you want out of your trip? Fish? Hike?

My trip from that EP is mid June, I'll be heading towards Ima, Thomas and further on. No motors after Snowbank, LOTS of nice campsites.

I am headed to the boundary waters this june and am very excited. I am leaving out of EP #27; can anybody give me some pointers on where I should go and where to camp? I was thinking of heading east to aviod the lakes with motors on them. Thanks much!
