03/29/2008 05:42PM I can't get to Quiet Journey from my work computer either. I think they end up blocking whole batches of IP addresses when there are problems with some in that area. Fortunately I can still get it at home. I had this problem before and sent an email and it got cleared up, but I haven't bothered this time since I just check it at home. It's a shortsighted policy that just blocks out lots of users. |

03/29/2008 11:19AM I agree Beymer's Quetico guide is good. It provides an overview and some good trip ideas, and the information on the rules and regs is helpful and still basically accurate. On the down side, it has not been updated for many years (it may even be out of print, but you can find copies easily on the Web). It also does not provide nearly as many trip options as Beymer's BWCA guides. And I find that Beymer's trip itineraries are a bit too ambitious for me in terms of distance traveled each day. So this is the guide to get, but only use it as a starting point for planning your trip. There are lots of routes and lakes Beymer doesn't mention that are great. I always like to have a flexible plan and usually alter it while I'm on the move. Have fun! |

03/27/2008 01:08PM I use "A Paddler's Guide to Quetico Provincial Park" by Robert Beymer. I like it, and he points out many cool things to see and do. I would recommend it |

03/27/2008 12:34PM Probably Robert Beymer's but the best way to research a route is to get the WA Fisher Map Book, pick some routes and then gather all the information you can from your fellow BWCA.com users. Somewhere online there is a Quetico Portage index available. I'll send the link when I find it. |
