If you are going to be mobile at all, then a border lake for base camping might work. Let your traveling partners do most of the work. Plenty of secluded bays to pick from. Best of luck.

So sorry to see you are out of commission this year. It will undoubtedly be a long, slow rehab process. But you have a goal to aim for and that's a healthy leg capable of withstanding strenuous portages for many years to come, beginning in 2013. Best wishes throughout the recovery process.

Not Good! Hope you recover fully and hit the trails late this season or next season for sure. Do the therapy !

Bummer! Be pushing everything off to the right on the golf course.

Thanks everyone for the kind posts and the prayers. They will be answered even if we don't see it in our eyes.

If your not going on a trip this year that's less money spent so maybe think about upgrading some of your gear with the money your saving.

Next year will come soon enough, hang in there!

Good luck with the recovery. We will keep a spot next to the fire for you.

Get healed and you'll be in the B-dub before you know it.
Savage Voyageur 04/27/2012 08:15PM
That is too bad, maybe you could take a trip on one of the lakes that allow motors in the fall?
chesapeakes 04/27/2012 07:30PM
That does stink. Hope your rehab goes well. You'll be more excited on your next trip.

quote 4fishin: "Tore my achilles tendon a couple weeks ago. I have a long road ahead of me and there will be no trips up to my favorite spot to travel to this summer, the BW. This sucks!

Hope everyone enjoys it a little more after reading this. Sometimes we don't know what we have until it is taken away from us. Take care and catch some fish for me this summer. "

Been there done that - cost me 7 months of rehab - no more running, but I can walk 30+ miles with no achilles problem.

I have been nursing a bad case of tendonitis in my Achilles since January. It has kept me out of one marathon already and I will most likely forfeit my entry fee for Grandma's also.

I can sympathize about missing the trip. I missed one in '04 because of a broken ankle.

That will be one cool scar though. A little work with a Sharpie and it could be a zipper or a huge centipede.

Do what your Physical Therapist tells you, even when he is not there to watch.
Frenchy19 04/27/2012 04:59PM
Yikes; that is one nasty and painful looking picture. I wish you a quick and full recovery.
Spartan2 04/27/2012 03:49PM
Wow! I think I won't complain about my arthritis pains tonight!

Sorry to see that, but glad you have it fixed and hope you heal well and as quickly as possible. I know, from friends who have had the injury, that it takes a long time and is a painful healing process.

Best wishes and a prayer or two.

Diddo.

That hurts to look at. Hope it heals well and fast. More trips are still in your future.

Not sure of the healing process. When can you walk on it? I'm sure your tripping partners will haul the gear as you hobble along behind.

ps Bummer man. Sorry to see it. Mind if I send the picture to my girlfriend? It'll gross her out!
ryebread26 04/27/2012 12:07PM
