my buddy just got back from there and the temperance lakes for a week. very bad fishing on cherokee, 1 21 inch pike. on one of the temperance lakes they happened to catch two walleye, 19 and 15 on waky rigged senko worms from camp...imagine that. that was it.
not good. he was not impressed with cherokee all that much.

I love Cherokee. Great lake but sometimes pretty busy even with all the sites. I have never had much luck fishing the lake. That said there are fish there so dont be discouraged. It is just a more difficult lake. A few years ago my son hooked into a huge northern that actually pulled our canoe around. After finally getting it close to the canoe it broke the hook itself right in half.
Have on great time on Cherokee...and yes those lakers can be deep!

I fished hard 2 years ago and unable to get a bite. Hoping to go back there in Sept. One of my favorite lakes.

Just returned Wednesday, June 24, from Cherokee. While trying multiple methods over four full days, including leeches, four of us were unable to coax a walleye out of that lake. However, we were pretty much wind bound for a day and a half, so no fishing then. But one in our party in the bow of my boat, had the spoon of choice for lake trout and pulled out six. Unfortunately, my variety of spoons resulted in no lake trout, but did hook into a 10 lbs northern. My boatmate's spoon was silver about two inches in length with some reflective silver tape. I tried a variety of little cleos, Sutton spoons, white jigs, with absolutely no luck. Anyway, the lakers were biting about 20 feet down in about 50 feet of water. We caught three up in the north end, in the narrows that opens into the eastern bay. Caught the other three about a third of the way down the lake. Things have been cool up there, so you should still be able to coax a few out of the lake, perhaps around 30 feet down come late June. Good luck!

While many people on this site have hailed Cherokee as one of the prettier lakes in the B-dub, the fishing reports have not been encouraging. On top of that, your going at a time when lake trout action typically slows down. If you can find them at all, they will most likely be deeper than 30'. If not, a day trip up to Long Island or Frost might be a consideration.

Can anyone provide me some good fishing advice for Cherokee Lake? Are there Walleye's in that lake? According to the DNR website it did not appear they netted any. Also I will be fishing in the last week of June, how would you suggest catching Lake Trout? Thanks
