I agree, its Ensolite. I use a chunk of this with my 3/4 under-quit for my hammock. Keeps the lower legs, which are not insluated by the UQ, warm. Also provides me some insulation if had to "go to ground". Its nice stuff.

We use the foam pads all the time, bought a blue camping pad at Walmart (<$15) for specific purpose of cutting into smaller sizes for BWCA use. Sitting, kneeling, fanning fire, usually insert them in packs for added comfort when portaging. Additional use at home for gardening, keeping butt dry on wet tractor seat. Have used folding reflector oven as windscreen too.

Excellent! Will add and use this later this summer.

I've used life jackets as a windscreen, but think maybe it's smarter to use something more "disposable" around a hot stove ;)
Well done!

Slick. I've been thinking about a metal windscreen, and I might do this instead.

Great idea, could have used it last Monday-Wednesday because it was very windy. Added to the list.

Great advice. What type of foam is that?
BTW, how were the hashbrowns? ;-)

I carry a sheet of foam on every trip. Just too light and usefull to not bring. Also... fits in the frame compartment of my GG pack for added padding or rigidity... nice to stand on to change clothes... fanning the fire is probably best of all. Beats the heck out of blowing that last bit of energy out of my body trying to get the fire to pick up after traveling all day.

Great idea. What were some of the other tips?

...when it arrived there were some dehydrated hashbrowns and a thin sheet of foam inside, nice little bonuses. along with the foam there was a note listing useful applications for it. i read the note and all the suggestions were obvious to me except one, and that one suggestion REALLY helped us out last week. add 3 tent stakes and you end up with a heck of a nice wind screen. thanks for the tip!
