Never tried minnow traps in the BW, but I found elsewhere they work best in small creeks with moving water. Make sure the openings point up and down stream. Also have found that large chunk dry dog found is the best bait. Only need a few pieces and they dissolve slowly.

Minnow traps are not very successful when used in a lake containing game fish.

I've used them a couple times with little success just setting it out near camp. Don't know what species we caught. Looked like small shiners. Very wimpy. Dead before we ever put them on a hook.

We tried them two years ago and did not catch anything. I could not believe we did not at least catch a few. I have uses them before on other lakes and have caught many.

Eggshells work as well. Using native baitfish can give you some of the best fishing. You dont have to go deep with the minnow traps.

I've used them before in BW but no luck. But back home in se MN I have had good luck.Use Cheetos or bread slices.Keep moving it around after each 1/2 day or night to find them.

Yes. We tried one a few years ago but no luck. It could be because we have never used one before and didn't work it right? We put some crackers in the trap and nothing. Can anyone elaborate on how exactly to best use a minnow trap?
